Concerned Women for America Commemorates Roe v. Wade and Celebrates 35 Years of Pro-Life Work

WASHINGTON, D.C. –– Thousands of pro-life activists march on Washington today as part of the annual March for Life, memorializing the 41st anniversary of the Supreme Court ruling that struck down state-level restrictions on elective abortions. Concerned Women for America (CWA) President and CEO, Penny Nance, recognizes in the brief statement below how far the nation has come on the life issue:

“Today at the March for Life you will see young people, who are statistically more pro-life than their parent’s generation, speaking up for those who can’t speak for themselves.

“As we commemorate the 41st anniversary of Roe v. Wade, and reflect back on Concerned Women for America’s 35 years of service, it is amazing to see that the country come so far on the issue of life. According to Guttmacher, more pro-life laws have passed in various states over the past three years than during the entire previous decade. State legislatures enacted 2015 abortion restrictions from 2011 to 2013, contrasted with the 189 provisions enacted during the entire previous decade. Yes, science has caught up with the debate. We can see into the womb and decide. After forty-one years since Roe, it’s no longer a question. It is a life.”

“CWA and Americans nation-wide are embracing the idea that restoring dignity to women involves a full scope of protections from a society that places concerns for profit over women’s health and safety.”
