By January 19, 2025Virginia

“Assemble the people before me to hear my words so that they may learn to revere me as long as they live in the land and may teach them to their children.” Deuteronomy 4:10

Your voice is needed to oppose government overreach towards homeschool families.

Concerned Women for America (CWA) of Virginia strongly OPPOSES Senate Bill 1031 because it attacks religious freedoms of all faiths for those who choose to instruct their own children.

SB1031 amends the provisions permitting any child and his parents to a receive an exemption from school attendance by reason of bona fide religious training or belief.  It requires the parent of a child, in order to obtain such an exemption, to provide evidence of the parent’s ability to provide an adequate education for his child, including a description of the curriculum to be studied in the coming year and proof of the child’s progress as laid out by the provisions of the bill.

SB1031 will be heard in the Senate Public Education Sub-Committee on Monday afternoon, January 20. The meeting will begin ½ hour after the Senate adjourns. Currently, it is ninth on the docket.

Action is needed:

  • Call and/or email the sub-committee members to oppose SB1031. Be sure to inform the senators that you heard about this issue from Concerned Women for America of Virginia. The Senate Public Education Sub-Committee members are:
  • If you can attend, plan to arrive no later than 1:00 p.m. Senate sub-committees meet on the third floor of the General Assembly building.
  • Forward this alert to family and friends.

Join us in prayer: Father God, this bill is yet another step to erode our religious liberties in this state. We pray you will turn the hearts of those who favor this bill, so they recognize the injustice of this government overreach. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
