Washington, D.C. — Concerned Women for America (CWA), the nation’s largest public policy women’s organization, today celebrates President Donald J. Trump’s executive order to dismantle the Department of Education. This historic action aligns with CWA’s longstanding mission to reduce federal overreach and restore educational authority to parents, local communities, and states.

“President Trump has delivered a resounding win for America’s families with this executive order dismantling the deeply flawed Department of Education,” said Penny Nance, CEO and President of Concerned Women for America. “For too long, it overstepped its bounds, forcing one-size-fits-all policies and leftist ideologies—like Biden’s Title IX rewrite, rejected by courts—that erode parental rights and historical values. We don’t need the Department of Education forcing taxpayers to foot the bill for massive bureaucracy that rewards activism and not learning. By ending it, Trump restores power to parents and communities. CWA applauds his leadership and stands ready to support this transformative change.”

Background:

For over four decades, Concerned Women for America has been at the forefront of the fight for education policies that prioritize parental rights and uphold faith-based values. Established in 1978 by Beverly LaHaye, CWA opposed the Supreme Court’s 1962 and 1963 rulings banning school prayer and Bible reading, advocating for the preservation of religious freedom in education. In the 1980s, CWA stood with parents in the Mozert v. Hawkins County Board of Education case, supporting their right to challenge curriculum that conflicted with their beliefs. More recently, CWA has been a vocal critic of federal mandates and progressive ideologies in schools, pushing for solutions that empower families over bureaucrats.
