Washington, D.C. – Concerned Women for America (CWA), the nation’s largest public policy women’s organization, joyfully celebrates the U.S. Supreme Court’s 6-3 decision in Mahmoud v. Taylor. The ruling upholds the fundamental right of parents to direct the religious upbringing of their children and to challenge the Montgomery County Public Schools Board of Education. The policy required students to engage with controversial and inappropriate materials promoting radical ideologies, including sexualized content and gender transitioning, without parental consent, notification, or an option to opt out. This decision reinforces parental authority and protects students from exposure to unsuitable content.

“The court’s decision today is a resounding victory for parental authority and religious liberty, and sets a strong precedent for any future district that seeks to force radical gender ideology on students,” said Penny Nance, CEO and President of Concerned Women for America. “The Supreme Court has rightfully affirmed that parents, not the state, hold the sacred duty to shape their children’s moral and spiritual upbringing. We at Concerned Women for America will continue to stand resolute in defending the God-ordained role of parents, safeguarding religious freedom, and ensuring our schools honor the Biblical truths that uphold family and have helped make our nation so great.”

CWA commends the courage of the Maryland parents who stood against this unjust policy and urges other states and school districts to honor parental rights and religious freedom in their educational practices. CWA will continue to advocate for policies that glorify God, strengthen families, and uphold the unchanging truth of Scripture.
