Capitol Hill Brief — Strike it Down

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Here is a fact for you. Out of the 44 nonprofits that applied for a playground surface government grant in Missouri, Trinity Lutheran’s application was ranked #5.

Yet, the school was denied solely because it was run by a church.

That’s what religious discrimination looks like.  And it was the case the Supreme Court heard yesterday, argued by our friends at the Alliance Defending Freedom.

After all the arguments, there is still no excuse for the government’s behavior here, considering that over 90% of the children who attend the preschool at Trinity Lutheran do not attend the church itself.

The government is just singling these kids as somehow less valuable of the government’s help because they go to a religious school.  The Court must strike this down.
