I recently told you about a rally we had at the Supreme Court for an important religious liberty case, Trinity Lutheran v. Comer. This was the case where the government discriminated against a school just based on their religion.
We stood for religious freedom on the steps outside the court, but inside the court, the sound of freedom also was heard. Here is Justice Elena Kagan getting to the crux of the matter when the state insisted it cannot give money to churches in any way:
[Audio Clip] Justice Elena Kagan: You said no money to churches. Why can the state provide police protection or fire protection?
[Audio Clip] Attorney: Well…the state does.
Of course it does. Religious freedom demands it.
