In his speech after the president announced his nomination, Gorsuch made a statement that reveals why he’s the best person to fill Justice Scalia’s seat. He said:
“A judge who likes every outcome he reaches is very likely a bad judge, stretching for results he prefers rather than those the law demands.”
You see what he’s saying. Sometimes a judge must rule in way he personally doesn’t like. But if the law must change, it is the role of the legislature to change the law, not the courts.
