Capitol Hill Brief — Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness

All week I have been warning you about the dangers of socialized medicine with its devaluing of human life.  We saw it firsthand in the case of baby Charlie Gard and his parents, who were prevented from doing everything in their power to save their son’s life.

It would have been futile in the eyes of the government to spend more money in caring for baby Charlie.  But the government was wrong.

Every human life has intrinsic value as created in the image of God. All, including the sick and disabled, are worthy of the chance to live.  This was the vision of America’s Founders: “Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

Let us live up to that vision.

The Bible tells us that all life is precious, but government overreach threatens the very foundations of this belief.
