Capitol Hill Brief — Christmas Week

As we look forward to celebrating Christmas this week, we also look back at the many blessings God has granted our nation.

It was a cold, snowy Christmas Eve that George Washington’s miraculous crossing of the Delaware River changed the course of history. One colonel recalled how a “providential fog” saved him and his men from being captured.

It was just one of the numerous miraculous occurrences of our nation’s founding.

That’s why it is not surprising to hear Washington say in his inaugural address, that, “No people can be bound to acknowledge and adore the Invisible Hand which conducts the affairs of men more than the people of the United States.”

All I can say is, “Amen!”
