Capitol Hill Brief — Aborted Under Suspicion of Down Syndrome

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Listen to this. The CBS News report we’ve been highlighting this week — which lauded the fact that Iceland was close to eradicating Down syndrome by aborting most babies that could potentially have it, acknowledge that “Many people born with Down syndrome can live full and healthy lives …” and that “The screening test is only 85 percent accurate …”

Just think of it. That means 15% of the babies aborted because they might have had Down syndrome, were completely healthy. They are aborted on the mere suspicion of Down syndrome.

Still, close to 100 percent of women who test positive abort their children. This is simply heartbreaking. All life is precious.
