Thank you for the effort you put forth in calling and emailing the Speaker of the House and Chairman in the House Federal and State Affairs Committee concerning the Adoption Protection Act, HB 2687.  Most of all thank you for your prayers.  Because of your efforts, I truly believe a hearing was held that otherwise would not have.  The bill would have continued to sit.

It is imperative that HB 2687 passes.  If not passed, it will leave Kansas adoption agencies open to lawsuits and legislation that would force faith-based adoption agencies to adopt out to same-sex couples or shut down.  This has already happened in several states.  Don’t let Kansas be the next!

I attended the hearing, and I noted the atmosphere was extraordinarily orderly and calm.  I strongly believe the calmness was because of prayer.  Thank you!  Thank you!

Keep the momentum going!  Do all you can to protect Kansas children and our religious freedoms.

Please Take Action: Now that we have had the hearings, the next step is to contact Chairman Barker (R-District 70).  Please encourage him to work the bill, vote it out of committee, and get it to the House Floor. Recently he stated that he does not plan to advance any more bills until the veto session. We must politely and respectfully encourage him to reconsider. Please contact Rep. Barker as soon as you are able; he needs to feel the pressure immediately.  And be sure to let him know that you are a member of Concerned Women for America of Kansas.

His contact information is: john.barker@house.ks.gov and 785 479-7519.

Please Continue Praying for the legislators and groups that are banning together for such a time as this. Pray for the Lord’s wisdom and guidance as we continue coming up against strong opposition.

Because we have elections coming up, it is more important than ever to get this bill passed.  We do not know what kind of executive orders the newly elected governor will be issuing.  We need this protection in place to exercise our religious freedom that we are guaranteed in the U.S. Constitution.

Thank you for your faithful prayers, action, and support of CWA of Kansas.

Blessings,
