Approaching the Election Prayerfully and Cheerfully

By October 18, 2024Texas

In 18 days, we will know the leadership of our country. A total of 468 seats in the U.S. Congress are up for election this year. A total of 5,693 seats are up for election within state legislatures, 165 of those from within Texas. Early voting has already begun in many states, and some states have closed voter registration. It is more important than ever before for us to cast our votes based on our Biblical beliefs and values. The Christian vote matters! Do you know that 40 million Christians don’t vote?

So, what is CWA doing to impact the election? Our She Prays She Votes Bus toured the country to encourage voting and get-out-the-vote efforts. Information was provided to the over 400 individuals who signed up for information on how to be a poll watcher or poll worker. For months, CWA leaders have been holding voter registration drives, speaking at events, manning voter information tables with Election Prayer Points and Issues Election Comparison handouts (both in English and Spanish), hosting writing parties, coordinating rides to polling places for those who cannot drive, and more.

Most importantly, in CWA fashion, we believe our actions matter only in concert with the most powerful tool we possess—prayer! Every day, we pray together via text message to our phones, and we hope you’ll join us if you haven’t already (text SPSV24 to 87884 to receive daily prayers).

We no longer live by the standards of this world. We are children of light. God “has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves” (Colossians 1:13). Therefore, we have a hope that is secure, but calls us back to our neighbors, still in darkness, to stand as a lighthouse to guide them to the Truth.

This is hard work! Many are in darkness and exhausted as to this election and the confusing messages from all sides. Let us be different. Let us shine the light of hope into the conversation. Let us be cheerful, hopeful voters who cherish the opportunities we get in a free society to have a voice.

Let us continue praying to our God, Who hears us and is in control. May we trust wholly in our heavenly Father and walk in peace and confidence today.

If you want information on the ministry of CWA of Texas and how to be part of it, call me. I would love to welcome you into the family!

In His service,
