“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 NKJV
So much is happening around us that can cause people to wonder, “what in the world is going on?” We are watching friends and fellow Kansans lose their livelihoods out of no fault of their own; we know people who have contracted the coronavirus, and there appears to be an all-out assault on our civil liberties, especially our economic and religious liberties.
Few can argue the fact that leading up to COVID-19, there was an increasing apathy toward the things that matter to God. Our state and nation have traded the goodness of God for what the world has to offer.
I don’t know about you, but Gov. Laura Kelly’s strong-arm governance model of ruling over businesses, churches, and the citizens of Kansas and recent events such as Luke Aichele, a barber from McPherson, Kansas, who was threatened with arrest for opening his shop in order to feed his family has stirred in me an even deeper commitment to want to make a difference in Kansas and our country.
Take Action:
- Pray for the Kansas state legislature that will be meeting for a one-day session on Thursday, May 21. Please pray that the governor and legislature will seek to do what is in the best interest of Kansans. Much prayer is needed for this one-day session.
- Contact your state senator and representative before Thursday, May 21, and let them know you are praying for them. Some have had sickness and even deaths in their families. Locate your two legislators here. Enter your information in the left panel under Find Your Legislator. Be sure to let them know you are with Concerned Women for America of Kansas.
- Send this e-alert to family and friends.
Please Pray: Dear Father, please hear our cry as we plead for the opportunity to reopen our state so that businesses can once again be open, and all Kansas can go back to work. We pray for Gov. Laura Kelly, who seems to think the strong arm of the government and ruling over the people is the correct way to govern. Show her, Lord, that freedom means the ability for citizens to govern their own lives in the safest possible way so they can earn a living. We also pray for our legislators, especially the leadership of the House and Senate as they come back on May 21. Give them wisdom and courage to do what is in the best interest of our state. Amen
Psalm 37:1-4. “Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong; for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away. Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
