CWA of Kansas Religious Freedom Rally, “Obey God Rather Than Men” – A Great Success!

By October 5, 2015Kansas

KS rally picsAnd when they had brought them, they set them before the council. And the high priest asked them, saying, ‘Did we not strictly command you not to teach in this name? And look, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this Man’s blood on us!’  But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: ‘We ought to obey God rather than men.’”

Acts 5:27-29 is a call for all believers to stand on God’s Word without compromise and without apology. To stand for religious freedom in all areas of life.

This is why Concerned Women for America of Kansas decided to have a Religious Freedom Rally at the state capitol on August 24.  Our desire was to encourage pastors, individuals, ministries, businesses, churches, etc. to stand up for Judeo-Christian principles at all times, and if opposed by men, to make a choice to “Obey God Rather Than Men”.

Religious freedom is at the heart of what it means to be an American.  America set the standard for upholding freedom of belief and worship in a diverse society.  No American should ever doubt these protections enshrined in the First Amendment.

Over 100 of us stood as fellow Americans, fellow Kansans, for righteousness in the public square on the steps of our state capitol. We knew that if we didn’t continue to stand, we would lose even more of our legal rights to stand, as we’ve seen with the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision on marriage.

All of our speakers were wonderful and inspiring:  Rev. Dave DePue, Captitol Commission Chaplain; Secretary of State Kris Kobach; Rep. Tony Barton (R-District 41), pastor of the New Life Fellowship Church; Rep. Willie Dove (R-District 38); Author of On This Day Dr. Paul Barkey, and Pastor Cordell Fischer of The Great I Am Church.

Gov. Sam Brownback was able to attend for a few minutes and nine Representatives, one Senator and several pastors attended.

We then marched to Judicial Center to the Kansas Supreme Court to demonstrate how legislators are to legislate, not the Supreme Court.

All were motivated and encouraged to “Obey God Rather Than Men” when called to do so.
