Dear Friends,
We are writing with an urgent call to action for our members in Virginia.
As you probably heard in the news, Attorney General Mark Herring has broken the oath he took to uphold and defend the Constitution of Virginia and taken the unprecedented step of switching sides on a marriage case to actually work AGAINST Virginia’s Constitution.
This is simply outrageous! Whatever Mr. Herrings personal views on marriage, he should respect the vote of the vast majority of Virginians who voted to define marriage as the union between one man and one woman in the state’s constitution.
More Virginians voted for the marriage amendment than voted for Mr. Herring, who won by just 165 votes.
He needs to hear from us! Even those who would like to see Virginia’s definition of marriage changed should NOT be for this type of lawlessness.
We have two action items for you:
- First, the case in which Mr. Herring will be arguing against the people of Virginia is scheduled to continue at the Courthouse in Norfolk THIS TUESDAY at 10:00 a.m. and we want to be there to rally for marriage and against the attorney general’s offensive actions. We need you to meet us at the Walter E. Hoffman United States Courthouse, located at 600 Granby Street in Norfolk.
- Second, we need the Attorney General’s office to hear from you! Call his office at (804)786-2071 and tell him how disappointing it is to see him break the oath he took to uphold and defend the Constitution of Virginia. Tell him whatever his personal views on marriage, he should not use the power of his office to force his personal views over the will of the people.
Again, two action items:
- Call AG Herring’s Office at: (804)786-2071
- Come rally at the Norfolk Court House at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 4.

We must stand for marriage and against this unprecedented attack on the Constitution of Virginia.
Thank you and God bless you and your family,
