SALT AND LIGHT

Dear CWA of Washington Members,

“Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.” Colossians 4:5-6

What a challenge it is to daily walk in obedience to the Biblical principles in which we believe! The previous verse is a reminder to speak carefully, remembering that salt works as a preservative and an astringent that can sting, as well as making one thirsty for more. Asking for God’s divine wisdom and guidance, then influencing others for Him and His values is a worthy goal, isn’t it? There are many ways we can educate and encourage others to choose Biblical values and then to stand alongside one another with God’s armor. How can we do less? We may lose some battles, but God will win the war, so as for me and my house, we choose to be in the battlefield of the ongoing culture war. Thank you for joining us there!

COMING EVENTS

Please check out CWA’s national website (www.cwfa.org) for coming events, such as the following:

Special Feature! Beware: Coming soon, the Day of Silence

The pro-homosexual “Day of Silence” (DOS) is coming to your child’s school again. The nationally scheduled date is April 16, 2010.

Parents and students have organized responses to this event which is organized by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN). Some choose to WALK OUT, others write letters, etc. This article contains helpful information and links.

Referendum 71 Lawsuit: Protect Marriage Washington has filed a lawsuit in the U. S. Supreme Court to protect the signatures and other personal information of all citizens who helped put the legislative expansion of domestic partnerships and its threat to traditional marriage on the ballot last fall. This case will be heard in the nation’s highest court on Wednesday, April 28, 2010. Homosexual activists in Massachusetts, California and elsewhere have threatened and harassed individuals and in several cases, damaged property of churches which dared to challenge the homosexual agenda. The specific issue in this case is whether or not it is mandated by the Public Disclosure Act that the names and personal information of those who signed this particular referendum be released to the general public. The ability for opponents to link a name with a particular issue is a troublesome one. This case could set a precedent for other states with the initiative/referendum option, so it is a very important issue.

Please pray for the Supreme Court Justices to focus on the need to protect individual privacy and thus for the initiative/referendum process to continue to be a tool for the citizenry to use in order to be involved in the democratic process of our country and state.

The National Day of Prayer is coming up on Thursday, May 6. You will find information on events around Washington State at the following website: www.nationaldayofprayer.org under “Find an Event”. For your information, the following cities have activities, so please plan to join with other believers on this special day: Anacortes, Tacoma, Federal Way, Poulsbo, North Seattle, Orting, Mt. Vernon, Gig Harbor, Walla Walla, Bellevue, Kirkland, Monroe, Arlington and Bothell. You will find details for these events on the website. You may list events in your own town as well.

40 Days for Life had very successful prayer vigils around the nation between February 17 and March 28 with at least 534 babies saved! Those who prayed at abortion clinics are to be commended for a job well done for our Lord, the Creator of all life. Please consider participating in their fall campaign.

Those Christians who speak with grace seasoned with salt to those outside the faith bring honor to our Lord and turn away wrath. That is the goal of Concerned Women for America: to promote and protect Biblical values among all citizens-first through prayer, then education, and finally by influencing our society-thereby reversing the decline in moral values in our nation. Won’t you contact the CWA of Washington office to find or start a Prayer/Action Chapter or Home Team in your town or city? We will help you find other CWA members in your area and train you how to excel as a CWA leader. That is one way to be salt and light in our society, bringing the good news about Jesus Christ, the Light of the world, to those outside.

You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. (Matthew 5:14)

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

(Matthew 5:16)

I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness.” (John 12:46)

In His Service,
