“Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever” (Psalm 106:1)

A victory for religious liberty was achieved in the South Dakota Legislature yesterday!  SB 149 passed the Senate with a concurrence vote of 27 to 8.  Check the votes here.  SB 149 provides certain protections to faith-based or religious child-placement agencies.

We are grateful for Sen. Alan Solano (R-District 32) and Rep. Steven Haugaard (R-District 10) for sponsoring SB 149 in their respective chambers.

Thank you for contacting your senator and representatives urging them to support SB 149!  We even picked up the four senators that we were targeting: Sen. Blake Curd (R-District 12), Sen. Kris Langer (R-District 25), Sen. Terri Haverly (R-District 35) and Sen. Jordan Youngberg (R-District 22).  In addition, Sen. Deb Soholt (R-District 14) voted YES!

ACTION:

  1. Phone the Senate lobby at (605) 773-3821 and leave a message for your senator. If your senator voted YES, please thank him/her.  If he/she voted NO, kindly express your disappointment.  Check the votes here.  Click here to find out who your senator is.
  2. Call Gov. Dennis Daugaard at (605) 773-3212, and/or e-mail him, and respectfully ask him to sign SB 149 into lawto ensure faith-based child placement agencies can continue to place children as they have been doing for decades.

PRAISE: Thank the Lord for this victory!

Once again, thank you for both your prayers and action.
