Lives Saved in Post Roe World

2nd anniversary of abortion ruling still a victory for life

Washington, D.C. – Today, Concerned Women for America (CWA), the nation’s largest public policy women’s organization, celebrates the second anniversary of the Dobbs v. Jackson decision that recognized that there is not a one-size-fits-all law allowing abortion in the country. The U.S. Supreme Court issued their opinion in 2022 and overturned the wrongfully decided Roe v. Wade decision and sent the battle to protect life back to the people.

“The Dobbs decision was a huge victory for human rights and human life,” said Penny Nance, CEO and President of CWA. “With the laws implemented at the state level estimates indicate tens of thousands of babies have been saved since this historic decision.  Some states like Kentucky and Arkansas have announced no abortions have taken place in the last year.

“In 1973, the Roe v. Wade decision by the U.S. Supreme Court made it legal to destroy life, a child, in the womb up to birth.  In 2022, the Dobbs decision allowed the conversation to begin again about what we, as a society, now know about fetal development and what restrictions should be placed on destroying human life in the womb.”

“Yet, the radical abortion extremists like Vice President Kamala Harris, Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) are pushing to make a federal right to abortion legal to the ninth hour of the ninth month paid for by American taxpayers. We will fight them every step of the way!”

Consistently, since Roe v. Wade in 1973, around 70% of the American people have supported restrictions on abortion and oppose late term abortions. Through advances in science, families and medical professionals are now able to understand fetal development in the womb, when the baby can feel pain. At fifteen weeks the baby can feel pain, can move his or her full formed fingers and toes, can suck her thumb and has a fully developed heart.

“Concerned Women for America worked toward that Dobbs decision for almost 50 years. Our CWA and Young Women for America leaders and activists continue the fight for the unborn at the state level and work with legislators to make sure our law reflects the voice of the people through the democratic process.

“Truly, the pro-life movement’s work has just begun, but this decision is a huge step toward CWA’s goal of making abortion unthinkable.”
