City Fines Family for Holding Bible Study

sjcbiblestudy1.jpgChuck and Stephanie Fromm from San Juan Capistrano, California, are fighting a city ordinance which prohibits them from hosting Bible studies in their home, or face fines of up to $500 per meeting. The municipal code, however, is general prohibiting “religious, fraternal or non-profit” organizations from holding any regular gathering of three or more people in private homes. Homeowner Stephanie Fromm tells CWA that the code impacts not only home Bible studies, but Boy Scout troops, home shopping parties, football parties, or in her case with five children — possibly even family dinners.
