ONE NATION UNDER GOD?

Dear CWA of Washington Members,

Are we still one nation under God? President Ronald Reagan warned us, “If we ever forget that we are One Nation Under God, then we will be a Nation gone under.” If you are concerned about this problem, won’t you join us in praying for our nation? Please consider finding or forming a Prayer/Action Chapter in your area or a Home Team made up of other concerned citizens. You will find a list of locations for Prayer/Action Chapters on our website http://wa.cwfa.org. Please contact us for more details or if you would like to start a chapter in your church or community.

Prayer: Pray for our state legislators as the 2010 legislative session continues in Olympia; pray that they might have a new awareness of Almighty God and seek to follow His precepts. If you have not yet, please sign up to pray for an individual legislator through our Encourage-A-Legislator campaign. Please use the attached form and e-mail it to the address at the end of this alert.

The Lord is far from the wicked, but He hears the prayer of the righteous.

Proverb 15:29

40 Days for Life will be underway around the nation and in Washington State from February 17 through March 28, 2010. You will find prayer locations at this website: http://www.40daysforlife.com/location. Please stand in the gap for the unborn and show your support of this movement. There were about 7000 citizens in Olympia last week at the March for Life to the Capitol Building steps. CWA was there with birthday notes and candles for all 147 of our state legislators and the Governor. Pray for a good influence from the March and the birthday notes.

And the breath of all mankind? Job 12:10

LEGISLATION

CWA of Washington chooses, then tracks legislative bills related to our six core issues: sanctity of human life, family, education, religious liberty, pornography and national sovereignty. We then send out weekly action alerts to those members who have chosen to be on our action alert list. We ask you to become informed citizens, then pray and take appropriate action on these legislative issues, always praying for those in authority that they will make seek God’s wisdom and follow His principles for the governing of the citizens. So far in 2010, we have several bills related to our core issues. So far, there are bills to limit pro-life clinics’ right to educate women on the dangers of abortion, to modify parenting laws, to protect children from sexual exploitation, to protect marriage between one man and woman and also to destroy that traditional relationship.

Here are just two of the bills you need to know about and respond to this week:

SANCTITY OF LIFE

Last week there was a public hearing on SB 6452 re: limited service pregnancy centers (which are actually all pro-life clinics). CWA of Washington OPPOSES this bill. This is a blatant attempt to hobble pro-life clinics with excessive regulations, claiming that pro-life clinics supply “medically inaccurate information (which) may harm individual access to needed health care (read: abortion) and jeopardizes the public health and consumer protection.” There is no proof that pro-life clinics give inaccurate information, but instead, in fact, these clinics tell the truth about some major physical and emotional consequences of abortion. This is an obvious attempt to mandate that these clinics discuss abortion and refer women to abortion clinics.

PLEASE call your three representatives with your perspective on this issue.

FAMILY

HB 2793 re: clarifying and expanding the rights and obligations of state registered domestic partners and other couples related to parentage. CWA of Washington OPPOSES this bill. There is a hearing on this bill on Monday, February 1. This bill actually REPLACES the terms father, mother, paternity, male, female, man, husband, wife, etc. with gender-neutral terms such as parent, person, parentage, spouse or domestic partner, etc.! It essentially removes any reference to male or female and their respective roles. The effect of this and other bills (e.g. last year’s passed SB 5688) cannot be overstated. Do you want to live in a culture where we are forced to believe that there are no differences between men and women, boys and girls and aren’t even allowed to call a female a mom and a male a father? We have clearly moved from the politically correct to the absurd! Let your opinion be heard on this bill.

For more details, go to the bill page for the Washington State Legislature and read these bills for yourself: http://apps.leg.wa.gov/billinfo/summary.

CWA of Washington is co-sponsoring a “Citizen Activist Workshop” in Olympia every other Tuesday for the rest of the session: February 2 and 16 and March 2, 8:30-9:30 a.m., in downtown Olympia, followed by visits to hearing rooms where you can observe our representatives in action. Please consider joining us to learn about current legislation, how to find bill information, how to talk with your representatives and other pertinent materials to help you become an informed citizen. Contact us to reserve your spot!
