HB25-1073, Protections for Child Rape, was heard Wednesday in the House Judiciary Committee and was killed in Committee at 2:25 a.m. yesterday. I testified on your behalf at 1:00 a.m. It was a privilege to speak on your behalf.
The vote to kill this bill was along party lines for the most part: six Democrats to kill, four Republicans, and one Democrat in favor of this bill. This is a victory that a Democrat voted to move this bill. Prayers work!
This bill would have required a court to sentence offenders of sexual assault on a child, as defined in current Colorado law, and prohibits a court from sentencing offenders to probation as now occurs in Colorado.
Thanks to those who responded to our e-alert by praying and contacting committee members!
We will promote this bill again next year.
Action Needed: Please send a “Thank You!” email to Rep. Regina English (D-District 17) and Rep. Brandi Bradley (R-District 39) for sponsoring this outstanding bill to protect children.
Please send a Thank You to Rep. Chad Clifford for voting in favor of this bill.
Continue to Pray: “Father, God, only one high God, we intercede for the legislators of Colorado to have hearts soft toward righteous legislation. We pray that they will vote in favor of legislation that honors Your creation and protects the people of Colorado. We pray that any weapon formed against children in Colorado will not succeed.
In the name of Jesus, Amen.”
