The Senate is scheduled to vote on the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act on Monday. Call, tweet, email your Senators TODAY and tell them to vote “yes” on S.9!
In 1972, over 50 years ago, Title IX was implemented to ensure that women had the opportunity to excel in academics and sports. Over the past few years, we’ve seen those opportunities erased as men identifying as women invade female locker rooms and steal spots on team rosters. Over and over, we’ve seen women lose out on scholarships and titles that they’ve worked for their entire lives simply because they are not as fast or as strong as a man.
We celebrated President Trump’s Executive Order earlier this month which bans men from women’s sports. The sad reality is that executive orders can be overturned by any future administration, one that does not believe male and female are immutable, unchangeable biological categories. That’s why Congress MUST pass the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, to ensure that female athletes retain the protection and fairness that Title IX guarantees.
In order to pass the Senate, the bill must receive 60 votes, which means seven Democrats have to vote with their Republican colleagues. We need you to reach out to your Senators ASAP – call, tweet, DM, email, visit their office – and tell them that protecting female athletes isn’t partisan. It’s about defending the basic civil rights protection of women and girls.
