Blessed be the Lord my Rock,
Who trains my hands for war,
And my fingers for battle
- Psalms 144:1
As the Louisiana General Session is quickly moving forward, legislators are trying to get their bills assigned to committee and onto the respective floors for passage.
One of those bills we are watching and following is HB570. The App Store Accountability Act requires parental consent for children to download applications on their mobile devices. This legislation has passed out of the House Commerce Committee with amendments and is scheduled to be heard on the House Floor Monday, May 12, 2025.
This bill is being fought by giants in the big tech industry, both among themselves and the bill itself. They are trying to avoid the responsibility they should be embracing in protecting minors.
Take Action: Contact your representative and ask them to vote “YES” in support of HB570. Also ask that they reject any amendments that would possibly weaken this bill. A message can be left with the House switchboard operator at 225.342.6945. This link will allow you to find out who represents you in the House of Representatives.
Pray: Almighty God, we pause in this moment to acknowledge Your presence and to seek Your blessing. In moments of challenge, grant our representatives perseverance. In moments of discord, grant understanding. Their privilege to serve is also a call to integrity, accountability, and grace. Give each Member wisdom beyond their own, compassion that rises above division, and strength to pursue what is good and just for all people. In Jesus’ name, Amen
