Take Action to Protect Our Children from Obscenity!

By April 24, 2023Louisiana

Obscene material has been found in children’s sections of public libraries across Louisiana, and Concerned Women for America (CWA) of Louisiana is calling on Louisianans to take important action to protect our children from obscenities. It is reprehensible to have sexually explicit content accessible to children.

SB7, sponsored by Sen. Heather Cloud (R-District 28), is a good bill that seeks to protect minors by prohibiting the promotion of obscenity, objectionable materials, and obscene performance. This bill will require libraries to establish, adopt, and implement a policy that limits access to sexually explicit material to minors. In addition, a governing authority will be installed as oversight to the existing library board of control.

SB7 needs to pass. Allowing children to view sexually explicit material is sexual abuse. Taxpayers should not be forced to pay for material that is harmful to children.

Please Take Action:
Contact the members of the Senate Education Committee listed below my signature and ask for their support of SB 7. The Chairman and members of the Education Committee need to hear from you (particularly if you are a constituent of a committee member). If you are a Concerned Women for America of Louisiana member, please let them know.
