Louisiana House Throws Female Athletes Under the Bus

By | Louisiana | No Comments

The Louisiana House of Representatives failed to override Gov. John Bel Edwards (Democrat) veto of SB 156, Fairness in Womens’ Sports Act. The Louisiana Senate voted to override the veto the previous day.

Concerned Women for America of Louisiana State Director, Laura Huber, had this to say of the failed veto override, “It is devastating that a minority of lawmakers have prevailed today to throw our daughters under the bus and deny them equal rights to safety and opportunity in sports that women fought so hard to achieve. We thank the legislators of both parties who have stood with courage and conviction to fight for fair play for Louisiana’s female athletes. We will continue to stand with you!”

Protect Babies Born Alive in NC: Help Us Override the Veto!

By | North Carolina | No Comments

Last month, our state legislators passed SB359, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, only to have it vetoed by Gov. Roy Cooper (Democrat) on April 18. In response to the veto, pro-life leaders from around the state, including myself, spoke at a press conference in Raleigh this week urging legislators to set aside politics and have compassion on babies surviving a horrific abortion – allowing these babies to be cared for instead of being set aside to die on a tray.

Thankfully, on Wednesday, April 30, the State Senate voted in favor of a veto override by a vote of 30 – 20, right along party lines, except for one courageous Democrat, Sen. Don Davis (D-Greene) who voted to support the override. The State House will vote to override the veto next, but at this time there is no date for the vote scheduled. Like the Senate, the House needs to reach a 3/5ths majority vote to override the Governor’s veto.

Please PRAY!
Pray for the hearts and minds of those who have been opposing the protection of innocent little babies.

Take Action! Please make a few quick calls!

  • Call Sen. Don Davis (D-Greene) at 919-715-8363 and thank him for his courageous conviction to vote against his Party in favor of the override.
  • Call your state representative and respectfully urge him/her to vote in favor of life by voting “Yes” to override Gov. Cooper’s veto of SB359. Click here to find out who your representative is and how to contact him/her.

On the national front: CWA of North Carolina joined other pro-life organizations in signing onto a promise letter urging the candidates running for Congress in North Carolina’s third and ninth districts, to pledge public support to sign the discharge petition for the federal Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act (H.R. 962) upon being elected to Congress.

Thank you for being a voice in North Carolina for those who have no voice.
