Stand with SB99 / HBR216 – The Ten Commandments Bills in Alabama

Concerned Women for America (CWA) of Alabama needs your help!

Please contact your senator and representative today and encourage them to support SB99 and HB216. Ask them to advance these important bills to the Senate and House floors for a vote. Your voice matters – email or call to make sure it’s heard.

In 1813, future U.S. President John Quincy Adams wrote in a letter to his son that, “The Law given from Sinai” – in other words, the Ten Commandments – “was a civil and municipal as well as a moral and religious Code.” Its provisions “were of universal application – Laws essential to the existence of men in society, and most of which have been enacted by every nation that ever possessed any code of law.”

SB99 acknowledges the historical significance of the Ten Commandments and the broader Judeo-Christian tradition in shaping American civil society. It does not promote religion or interfere with personal faith; rather, it simply offers an educational context in certain Alabama public schools.

The Alabama Constitution guarantees that “no religion shall be established by law” and respects students’ personal decisions. SB99 upholds that principle while recognizing the historical importance of the Ten Commandments.
