CWA applauds President Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” (BBB) and key issues included in the bill that provide a child tax credit, choice in education, and especially the defunding of big abortion, like Planned Parenthood.

Of concern for South Dakota, however, is the attack on our private property rights and local control that may or may not be included in the BBB. The people of South Dakota voted to reject RL21 in 65 of 66 counties with 59% of the vote. RL21 would have eliminated our local control to set safety ordinances. The South Dakota Legislature passed HB 1052, a bill prohibiting the exercise of eminent domain for carbon dioxide pipelines. Our state leads the nation in protecting private property rights.

This week, a delegation of our state legislators travelled to Washington, D.C., to meet with Sens. John Thune (R) and Mike Rounds (R) and other lawmakers. Our ask of them is to repeal the 45Q tax credits that wealthy and powerful investors (domestic and foreign) of these projects, i.e., carbon sequestration, receive to promote the “green new deal.”  The 45Q tax credits are what “fuels” these projects.

ACTION: Your help is now needed to contact our U.S. Senators. Ask them to repeal the 45Q tax credits and protect private property rights. Be sure to let them know that you are a member of Concerned Women for America of South Dakota.
