The John Paul II Stem Cell Research Institute is providing a vital link between basic research with adult stem cells which is typically academic and focused on publication and clinical research, which is required for FDA approval for the development of actual treatments. As Kim Lehman, Development Director for the John Paul II Stem Cell Research Institute, notes, No single institution or organization has all of the resources and expertise to satisfy the FDA requirements to conduct adult stem cell research. The most cost effective and expeditious approach to resolve this dilemma is to create collaborations between clinicians and scientists from academia and industry to advance adult stem cell research.
