John Adams said, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” This is why we pray that our nation would return to Christian principles. This is why we pray for our leaders. We must stand firmly on the truth of Scripture. As believers, we fight for our values, speak up, vote, advocate, and engage. But it all begins with prayer. Scripture commands us (I Timothy 2:1-2) to pray for those in authority, that He would bless them with wisdom and courage to follow the Lord’s leading. So let’s pray for this election and for our nation. Help us be a nation that not only asks God to bless it but also blesses and honors God.
