Dear Friends,
What a year! Hope is in the air as we look back at all we have accomplished this year and consider the possibilities ahead. We want to say a big THANK YOU for your friendship and support.
We praise God for each and every one of you!
The Christmas season, with its focus on the birth of Jesus Christ, is at the center of this hope. The Savior was born, died for our sins, rose from the grave, and reigns on high!
The words of 1 Peter 1:3 come to mind, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”
It is that hope that keeps us energized, even in the midst of what others think is impossible. That is how we approached this election year, and we saw God move in miraculous ways.
But we couldn’t engage the way that we do without your help. YOU have gifted us with your time, talent, and/or treasure, and we are beyond grateful.
Let me list just a few of the things we were able to accomplish this year, thanks to you!
- Conducted our Encourage-A-Legislator Prayer Project to encourage and pray for our state legislators. The legislative body was prayed for daily and received an encouraging postcard every month throughout the legislative session.
- Hosted prayer walks at the State Capitol where we met and prayed throughout the Capitol and Capitol Chapel.
- Participated in Louisiana Life March in Baton Rouge.
- CWA of Louisiana leaders and members attended Pro-Life Day at our Capitol in Baton Rouge to communicate to legislators that there is strong pro-life support in our great state.
- Alerted our membership base to pray and contact legislators concerning HB608 which defines women-only safe spaces providing protections for women and girls against sexual assault, harassment, and violence in correctional facilities, juvenile detention facilities, domestic violence shelters, dormitories, and restrooms, or where women have been traditionally afforded safety and protection from acts of abuse committed by biological men.
- Hosted the Covington Big Pink Bus stop as part of CWA national’s She Prays She Votes Campaign. Promoted the event through speaking and tabling opportunities at several venues.
- Conducted a voter registration drive.
- Submitted a statement to the House Select Committee on Homeland Security, drawing their attention to our support of House Resolution 133 as the largest public policy women’s organization in the nation and our state. This resolution begins the review process of Louisiana state government actions in response to Covid 19 and how it was used to advance personal ambitions in egregious ways.
- Communicated with the President and women’s volleyball team’s coaching staff at Louisiana Tech regarding their participation in the season’s first volleyball game against San Jose State University. In this communication, we drew attention to the fact that San Jose State has a biological male trans athlete. Louisiana Tech was not informed by San Jose State University prior to that game and stated they would have sought “a different outcome” if they had known. My communication and their reply were reported on in a foxnews.com article.
2025, Here We Come!
We are believing in a God-sized vision for CWA of Louisiana’s engagement for next year. Now is not the time to let up. We need to commit to prayer and action now more than ever. We have a great opportunity to exert generational transformation in the name of our Lord in the next year that will benefit our children and grandchildren. So, we will need your help! Please pray about what you can do and make yourself available to the Lord.
Please prayerfully consider making a final year-end, tax-deductible gift of $100, $50, $25, or other to continue the work here in Louisiana. It will make a huge difference for our state! Send a check to the address below or contribute online.
And remember, let’s keep our eyes on that Blessed Hope; we will stand triumphant in His glory alone.
In His Service,
Laura Huber, State Director
