Meet Our Summer Intern Shelby Barrow

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Hello! My name is Shelby Barrow, and I am beyond blessed to be the Legal Studies intern here at Concerned Women for America (CWA) this summer. I grew up in a small town south of Atlanta, where I was surrounded by people who love America, family, and, most importantly, Jesus Christ. I am excited for the summer ahead to experience all that CWA and Washington, D.C., have to offer!

I just completed my second year at Georgia Tech (go Jackets!), where I am pursuing a Public Policy major alongside a Law, Science, and Technology minor. I plan to attend law school after graduation to obtain my Juris Doctorate. Being at this place in my life is truly a testament to the Lord’s faithfulness to His children. For most of high school, I wanted to pursue a degree in Biology and then attend medical school, but the Lord had other plans for me. Before starting college, I sensed something inside me was not right in my pursuit of a degree in Biology. Now I know it was the Lord’s “still small voice” moving me to go in an entirely different direction and major in public policy instead. It was a big step of faith to abandon the future I had painted for myself and fully step into a field with uncertainty about what lay ahead.

I was introduced to CWA through a friend at school who was very involved with the organization’s Young Women for America (YWA) program. I immediately fell in love with CWA because of its mission and the foundation of Biblical principles and values which guides them. I became involved with YWA shortly after attending their annual leadership training. There I witnessed a group of smart, strong, Esther-like women who all shared a passion for defending truth in America. Since that training, I knew I wanted to be more involved in CWA, which led me to this internship!

As I mentioned earlier, I plan on attending law school to continue to advocate for Biblical principles in law. I plan to work in Constitutional Law to preserve the rights that allow us to further the Kingdom of God. I am so grateful for this opportunity to work at CWA alongside women who are faithfully dedicated to the Lord, and I am so excited to see what all the Lord has in store for me this summer!
