“See that you do not despise one of these little ones.
For I tell you that in heaven their angels always
see the face of my Father who is in Heaven.”
Matthew 18:10
Thanks to Louisiana elected officials, our state is at the forefront of the national debate over the safety and legality of dispensing the abortion pill Mifepristone by mail.
Earlier this month, U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-Louisiana) led a first-of-its-kind hearing in the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee focused on the dangers of chemical abortion drugs (specifically Mifepristone and Misoprostol) and the shipment of them through the mail. Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill testified at the hearing about the dangers of abortion pills just a day after she issued an arrest warrant for Dr. Remy Coeytaux, the abortion drug dealer from California, who provided abortion pills to a man in Louisiana who used them to pressure his girlfriend to have an abortion. “This is not healthcare; it’s drug dealing,” Murrill said in her statement. “Individuals who flagrantly and intentionally violate our laws by sending illegal abortion pills into our state are placing women in danger. We’ve seen the proof of that, with women showing up in emergency rooms after taking these pills and being coerced into abortions.”
Murrill asked Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry to approve an extradition warrant to bring Coeytaux to Louisiana to face the charge. After doing so, California Gov. Gavin Newsom in turn blocked the warrant as he continues his crusade to protect abortion at all costs.
The hearing illustrated the serious physical harms these abortion pills cause to women and girls, as well as their potential to be abused by abusive partners.
The hearing also exposed that the abortion industry, along with its political allies, does not care. They place abortion above the rights and safety of the very women they claim to defend.
Take Action:
- Email a quick note of thanks to Bill Cassidy, AG Liz Murrill, and Gov. Jeff Landry. We cannot thank them enough for their service to the women, girls, and unborn children in our state and country. Be sure to let them know that you are a member of Concerned Women for America of Louisiana and that you will be praying for them.
- Help us show that Louisianans will not stand for harm against women, girls, and unborn children caused by these abortion pills by boldly sharing this e-alert far and wide.
Please Join Me in Prayer: “Father God, we pray that You will continue to give strength and wisdom to Sen. Bill Cassidy, AG Liz Murrill, Gov. Jeff Landry, and all who work to defend humanity’s inalienable right to life; the lives of the unborn and the mothers who are coerced. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
More Information: See recent article, Senate Hearing on Chemical Abortion Turns Into Basic Biology Lesson, by Concerned Women for America Legislative Strategist, Maggie McKneely. In addition, see below for more information about telemedicine practices and laws regarding abortion pills.
Telemedicine practices require a consultation with a licensed physician via phone or video, yet these drug dealers do not even meet that basic standard. Telemedicine also requires physicians to be licensed in the state where they are practicing, a requirement these abortionists routinely ignore. Chemical abortions now account for the majority of all abortions in the U.S.
Louisiana became the first state to set criminal penalties for anyone who handles Mifepristone and Misoprostol without proper clearance. Offenses can be punished by a term of 1 to 50 years in prison, depending on the circumstances.
Attempts to extradite doctors to face prosecution in Louisiana have run into a “shield law” that protects tele-health providers from criminal consequences in states that have outlawed abortion. California has similar protections for its health care providers against investigations and prosecutions from other states.
