“Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.” -- Proverbs 4:23

Online Age Verification Bill

HB1053 is a good bill that would require age verification if a minor purposefully or accidentally comes across a pornographic website online. It holds the website responsible for verifying a minor’s age. Presently it is too easy to have access to horrific sexual content. It is crucial to adopt policies and stop our nation’s youth from accessing harmful and non-age-appropriate content. We must protect our children. You may recall that this bill was defeated last year and sent to a summer study. You may read about this topic in our spring 2024 newsletter.

HB1053 passed the House with a vote of 61-5 and passed unanimously in the Senate. We praise God for this victory. HB1053 now awaits the governor’s signature.

“Bathroom” Bill and Driver’s License Bill

HB1259 will protect women and girls from the entrance of males in their private spaces. Men and boys use one facility, and women and girls use another facility.  We cannot deny the science that there are two God-created sexes—male and female. HB1259 passed in the House with a vote of 49-21.

ACTION: HB1259 will now go to the Senate soon. Please contact your state senator and ask him/her to support HB1259 when it comes to the floor for a vote. HB1260 would require birth certificates, driver’s licenses, etc., to reflect biological sex. HB1260 failed in the House with a tie vote of 35-35.

Library Obscenity Bill

HB1239 is a good bill that would strengthen our law that protects minors from obscenity. It removes a harmful exemption that shields schools and libraries from having to comply with a legal prohibition on distributing “material harmful to minors.”  We know that obscene materials continue to be available to young people in taxpayer funded libraries and schools throughout the state. HB1239 passed in the House with a vote of 38-32.

PRAYER: Father, You created sexuality to be a beautiful expression in the confines of a loving relationship between a husband and wife. Forgive us for our rebellion from Your created design. Help us protect our children from the distortion the enemy brings. Help our laws and adults who love our children to shield them from this evil and teach them Your plan for healthy relationships. In Jesus’ name. Amen
