Four Reasons to Defund Planned Parenthood – Now!

In early January 2013, Reps. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tennessee) and Diane Black (R-Tennessee) introduced H.R. 61 and H.R. 217 respectively, the “Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Acts,” which follows in the footsteps of Rep. Mike Pence’s attempts to defund Planned Parenthood before he was elected to the governorship of Indiana. His bill passed the House but was defeated in the Senate.

Dr. Janice Shaw Crouse, Director and Senior Fellow of the Beverly LaHaye Institute, issued a report on defunding Planned Parenthood in 2011 and in it revealed the organization received $363 million in taxpayer funding and government grants in 2008-2009. Dr. Crouse also noted that in that same time period, Planned Parenthood performed 324,000 abortions — making it the nation’s number one abortion provider.

Planned Parenthood’s 2011-2012 annual report shows that the organization received a staggering $542 million in government funding. It performed 333,964 abortions during that year.

The fact that so many pro-life Americans do not wish their tax money to go to Planned Parenthood to support the abortion business should be reason enough to defund it, but in case that is not sufficient, here are four more reasons.

1. Planned Parenthood workers have no problem aiding and abetting pimps and traffickers

Thanks to Lila Rose’s group,, the world was shown what goes on inside Planned Parenthood clinics when a man presenting himself as a pimp shows up with one of “his girls” to arrange for her to have an abortion. The pimp was given advice on how to get his girl back on the street quickly after an abortion, how to secure secret abortions for his underage slaves (this is to get around abiding by parental consent laws), and how to get STD testing and birth control – all on the taxpayers’ dime. You can see the seven videos and read the transcripts from clinics in Virginia, New Jersey, New York, and Washington, D.C., here.

2. Planned Parenthood has a history of covering up the sexual abuse of minors (statutory rape)

As a related topic, not only did the staffers previously mentioned not call the police on the alleged pimp, but their counterparts in the U.S. also turn a blind eye to the case of minors who may be victims of incest and rape. Steve Ertelt of compiled a list of cases, which included: a 22-year-old Ohio soccer coach being allowed to sign in place of his 14-year-old victim’s mother and father to allow Planned Parenthood to abort his child and to expedite the abortion by violating the 24-hour waiting period (he had been raping this child for over a year, known as statutory rape, and with the abortion done, he could continue his campaign of rape) and another Ohio clinic instituting a “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy to avoid reporting a father’s incestuous relationship with his 16-year-old daughter, whom he’d been raping since she was 13 (the proof was the baby he forced her to abort). Ertelt also links to a 2002 investigation of 813 Planned Parenthood clinics done by Life Dynamics which showed staff at hundreds of clinics across the U.S. willing to cover up the sexual abuse of minors, otherwise known as statutory rape.

3. Planned Parenthood clinics support sex-selective abortions

With the callous disregard shown to teen girls victimized by pimps, rapists, and incestuous relationships, the fact that Planned Parenthood supports aborting baby girls in sex-selective abortions should not come as a surprise. (Although, as a business model, it seems short-sighted to abort your future potential clients, doesn’t it?) Planned Parenthood presents itself as having “non-judgmental discussions” in the cases of women wanting to abort their babies for the sole reason that they are girls. has another undercover investigation of four Planned Parenthood clinics (and several National Abortion Federation clinics) showing staffers being “non-judgmental” as they tell women it is okay to abort their babies simply because they are girls and they wanted boys. In Hawaii, the taxpayer may pay: “The Planned Parenthood counselor suggests paying for the abortions using Hawaii’s QUEST state health insurance. ‘So if I wanted to terminate a girl the government would pay for it?’ asks the woman. ‘They don’t care,’ the Planned Parenthood counselor replies.” Evidently, Planned Parenthood doesn’t care either.

4. Planned Parenthood promotes deviant behavior

One example of deviant behavior is BDSM (bondage, discipline/domination, sadism/submission, masochism), and Planned Parenthood of New England and Planned Parenthood of Hudson Peconic are two affiliates pushing teens and young people to expand their sexual horizons to incorporate it. Planned Parenthood of New England sponsors the website called “A Naked Notion with Laci Green,” and her November 15, 2012, video feature was “Getting Kinky – BDSM 101.” Laci explains how BDSM is really just harmless fun. She explains the need for a “safe” word in case the harmless play gets out of hand (“no” and “stop” are not advised, as the recipient may not mean it – she didn’t say if “ouch” is advisable or not.) Laci is not alone in promoting BDSM. Planned Parenthood of Hudson Peconic has a flyer announcing the “Fifty Shades of Safe” training which, “assists Health, Physical Education and Family and Consumer Science teachers in meeting NYS Education Standards 1, 2 and 3.” That’s right; Planned Parenthood trains the teachers to help your child explore the magical world of BDSM. They will learn to, “Facilitate a lesson plan to teenagers and young adults on healthy relationships and appropriate communication/negotiation skills.” Translation: When you are cuffed to the bed, choose a “safe” word other than “no.”

Why would Planned Parenthood receive more than half a billion dollars of government funds to promote death, crime, and deviancy? The short answer is because it can, thanks to politicians who either ignore Planned Parenthood’s actions or, worse, support them. Please call your representative today and tell them to vote for H.R. 61 and H.R. 217 and take a stand to promote life and decency.
