In the fresh start of the 119th Congress, we’re back in the halls of D.C. urging Congress to restore Title IX protections by passing the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act. We need your help to encourage Congress to support H.R. 28 and S.9!
H.R. 28 / S. 9 makes clear the Education Amendments of 1972 prohibit men from occupying athletic opportunities specifically designated for women. It clarifies this discriminatory practice is a Title IX violation for federally funded schools.
Because of your efforts last Congress, the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act passed the House with a 219-203 vote along party lines. The Senate then stopped the bill, and it never made it to the President’s desk.
However, voters wanted change– Republicans now have control of the House, Senate, and Presidency. Our exit polls show 70% of voters found Donald Trump’s opposition to men in women’s sports was “important” to their vote choice. As elected officials move into new leadership positions, they adopt a responsibility to protect female athletes from federally funded discrimination.
President-Elect Trump already promised to restore the integrity of women’s sports, and Congress must work to send it to his desk now. Concerned Women for America LAC has appealed to Congressional leadership, and we expect they will act soon. The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act could be one of the very first pieces of legislation the 119th Congress passes!
But we need your help to let Congress know: men do not belong in women’s sports!
Encourage Congress to stand for truth and protect women in sports:
