By November 6, 2024She Prays She Votes

Election Day ticked by, and Americans once again gathered at the polls to vote. As citizens of this country, it is a great privilege to exercise these civic duties and influence the direction and leadership of our beloved country. Concerned Women for America’s She Prays She Votes efforts encouraged more engagement than ever, calling on Christians to fight evil, influence culture, and boldly stand for their values in every arena, including the ballot box. CWA leaders hosted voter drives, educational events, and even participated in the 2024 She Prays She Votes Bus Tour.

Republicans secured the projected Senate majority and the Presidency on election night, but there are 50 House races that The Associated Press and others have still not called leaving control of the Lower Chamber still undecided.

Republicans and Democrats targeted counties in California, New York, and more in their race to majority. Polling in most of these districts remained even through Nov 5. The Associated Press has 50 House races left to call the morning after Election Day. As these results continue to come in, here is what we know about the races called last night:

  • Democrat Shomari Figures flipped Alabama’s Second Congressional District from Republican representation. This is the first time since 2008 that two Democrats will sit in the Alabama delegation.
  • Zach Nunn (R) from Iowa’s Third continued his winning streak after a tight rematch against Democrat Lanon Baccam.
  • Michigan’s Seventh elected Republican Tom Barrett flipping a previously Democrat-held seat.
  • A tight race in Michigan’s Eighth is projected to remain under Democrat representation.
  • Incumbent John James (R-Michigan-10th) held his seat in a close race against Carl Marlinga (D).
  • New Mexico Rep. Gabriel Vasquez (D-New Mexico-8th) successfully defended her seat.
  • Josh Riley flipped New York’s Eighteenth to Democrat control.
  • Democrat John Mannion defeated Republican incumbent Brandon Williams for New York’s Twenty-Second.

So far, Democrats have flipped three seats and Republicans have flipped four. The Associated Press has called 184 seats for the Democrats and 201 for the Republicans. Neither party has reached the 218-seat threshold to capture majority in the 119th Congress.

As we continue to gather results, we pray the peace of the Lord over this nation and unity that surpasses political division. In every result, favorable or not, we affirm, seek, and rest in the Lord’s ultimate sovereignty over our land.
