Praise the Lord for the January 14th “Hands Around the Capitol” event that happens every January commemorating the erroneous Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade. Praise God for the many pro-life legislators who attended that event and especially for our Gov. Paul LePage, who not only attended, but spoke great encouraging words to those who gathered at the rally. Ask yourself, before Gov. LePage, when was the last time we had the governor of the State of Maine attend any pro-life event?
Then there was the Congressional Prayer Caucus Committee (CPCC) event Tuesday, January 17th that encouraged our Maine Legislative Prayer Caucus to continue and to grow in power and numbers. What a thrill it was to have the Executive Director of the CPCC, Lea Carawan, Gov. Paul LePage, Speaker of the House, Robert Nutting, President of the Senate, Kevin Raye, Attorney General, William J. Schneider, Secretary of State Charles Summers, Jr., State Treasurer, Bruce Poliquin, Caucus Chairman, David Burns, Rep. Ellie Espling and many other legislators join with the public at the Hall of Flags in the Capitol. The purpose of this caucus is 1 Chronicles 7:14, “If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven, forgive their sin and heal their land.”
As State Director of Concerned Women for America of Maine, and a Selectman for the Town of Belgrade, I was honored to be invited as a special guest along with all other elected municipal officials across Maine to attend a pre-event gathering at the State Library building at noon. It was a great opportunity to interact with like-minded lawmakers to encourage and be encouraged.
I ask everyone to continue to pray fervently for our country, its leaders and those in authority over us so that we may live peaceable lives here on the earth. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
God bless you and may God continue to bless the United States of America and the great State of Maine.
All for Jesus,
Penny Morrell
