WASHINGTON, DC – Concerned Women for America (CWA) says that Netflix’s quarterly earnings failures cannot be blamed entirely on a Brazil tax dispute, as the company lost an estimated $15 billion in valuation earlier this month after Elon Musk called for a boycott over Netflix pushing gender ideology and sexualized content into children’s programming.

“During its quarterly earnings call yesterday, Netflix executives blamed a tax dispute in Brazil for the company’s failure to hit earnings targets, but totally ignored the elephant in the room. Netflix lost an estimated $15 billion valuation earlier this month after it was exposed by Elon Musk and others for pushing sexualized content and gender ideology into children’s TV shows,” said Penny Nance, CEO and President, Concerned Women for America.

“What Netflix won’t acknowledge or admit to is the distrust bordering on outrage Netflix has provoked among hundreds of thousands, maybe even millions of parents – and rightfully so. Conversations about sex and sexuality are sensitive, personal, and different for every family and child. Those conversations should take place only when the parent deems it necessary and developmentally appropriate. No parent wants to be forced to have a conversation about adult sexual preferences or gender identity with their child because of a cartoon.

“Netflix must stop pushing gender ideology and sexualizing content into programming aimed at children. To regain parents’ trust, Netflix needs to ensure that entertainment provided for children does not contain hidden agendas and that it reflects values held by most American families,” said Nance.

CWA has reached out to Netflix in a letter to start a dialogue about concerns shared by millions of families and what Netflix can do to regain their trust.
