Earlier this month, Debbie McCool, our Van Lear Prayer/Action Chapter Leader, Halley Gravely, Young Woman for America Ambassador from Louisville, and I traveled to Washington, D.C., to lobby Congress regarding the efforts to defund big abortion. Our CWA of Kentucky delegation joined other CWA grassroots leaders from around the country to tell Congress to “Slash the Cash, Save the Kids” in their budget negotiations.
We visited the offices of Kentucky Rep. Brett Guthrie (R-District 2), Rep. Andy Barr (R-District 6), Sen. Mitch McConnell (R), and Sen. Rand Paul (R). We encouraged them to stay strong on this vital issue.
We encouraged them to:
- Defund organizations like Planned Parenthood and redirect their annual $700 million in taxpayer funds to life-affirming pregnancy resource centers and Federally Qualified Health Centers.
- End all federal funding for “gender-affirming care,” particularly for minors, to protect children from irreversible medical interventions.
- End this wasteful spending as part of the reconciliation package currently under review.
We are excited to report that the House passed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act! Planned Parenthood will be defunded for 10 YEARS! Praise the Lord! One notable amendment is that the bill now prohibits Medicaid use on ALL trans procedures, not just minors. Thank you, Lord!
ACTION: Senate members are now considering all spending measures, please contact Sen. Mitch McConnell and Sen. Rand Paul and ask them to prioritize stopping public funds from going to businesses that perform abortions. Be sure to let them know that you are a member of Concerned Women for America of Kentucky.
PRAYER: Father, we thank You for life and for who You created us to be. Thank You that You created us to have a relationship with You. Please alert the U.S. Senate to this truth and urge them to protect life as You created it. Help our nation uphold Your morality and truth that respects the dignity of the born and unborn.
