Washington D.C. – Concerned Women for America (CWA) CEO and President Penny Nance has issued the following statement regarding the decision to forgo major changes to the Senate filibuster rules: “News that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid had to back off his threat to break Senate rules to change the filibuster is good news for America. The one thing that everyone agrees on is that both parties need to work together to accomplish what is best for the country. And although we have heard a lot about bi-partisanship from President Obama, the reality is that he and the Democratic leadership in the Senate have done very little in the form of actions to make that a reality. This threat by Sen. Reid was perhaps the most egregious example of all. CWA applauds those senators, including several Democrats, who stood up to Reid’s scare tactics and made sure he did not destroy any chance at bi-partisanship just as the 113th Senate is about to begin.” If you would like to schedule an interview with CWA CEO and President Penny Nance please contact Alison Howard at ahoward@cwfa.org or 202-309-5978.
