Charlie Kirk’s Legacy of Faith: Revival in Our Time

On September 10, 2025, an assassin murdered Charlie Kirk. Eleven days later, Charlie’s widow, Erika, forgave the killer on a global stage.

At just eighteen years old, Charlie Kirk founded Turning Point USA in a Chicago garage with a vision to reignite conservatism and patriotism among college-aged Americans. He has been credited with winning college-aged voters for President Donald Trump, and he was a loved and trusted advisor to the Trump administration. Charlie’s death was announced by the President, and the Vice President escorted Charlie’s coffin and family to his home in Arizona on his official aircraft, Air Force Two.

More than his professional and political genius, Charlie was a disciple of Jesus Christ, a husband, and a father. And on September 10, 2025, Heaven gained a resident, Erika Kirk lost her husband, the couple’s children lost a father, and a revival was born.

Soon after Charlie’s assassination, organic prayer vigils and worship services swept the nation. From small towns and colleges across the country to the White House, everywhere Charlie Kirk is remembered, the Gospel is being proclaimed. In Washington, D.C., the Kennedy Center hosted a maximum-capacity prayer vigil with eighty-five members of Congress and countless cabinet secretaries in attendance. Sean Feucht led worship, and speaker after speaker—including Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Speaker Mike Johnson, and Congressman Andy Biggs—proclaimed that Jesus Christ is Lord. The room erupted in applause each time.

On September 15, Vice President JD Vance hosted Charlie Kirk’s beloved podcast, The Charlie Kirk Show, to remember his friend. After welcoming several guests, Vance closed with a recitation of the Nicene Creed, sharing the simple Gospel message with millions of viewers.

But the Gospel always has its detractors—the response to Charlie Kirk’s murder from left-leaning pundits and politicians has been nothing short of shameful. Almost immediately, MSNBC’s Matthew Dowd suggested that Charlie deserved assassination based on his “hateful thoughts and hateful words.” Christianity Today’s coverage downplayed the assassination, simply reporting that Charlie “died after being shot,” while heavily emphasizing Charlie’s involvement with the “MAGA Doctrine” instead.

In Congress, when Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (R-Colorado 4th) called for a moment of silence just hours after Charlie Kirk’s murder, Democrats shouted and refused to show respect. On September 16, 2025, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana 4th) brought H.Res.719 – Honoring the life and legacy of Charles “Charlie” James Kirk to the House floor. A similar resolution easily passed the Senate with unanimous consent—but in the House, fifty-eight Democrats voted “No,” and thirty-eight voted “Present.”

Rep. Acasio-Cortez (D-New York 14th) followed the vote with an embarrassing floor speech. She slandered Charlie Kirk, calling him “uneducated” and said, “His rhetoric and beliefs were ignorant and sought to disenfranchise millions of Americans.”

But none of the vitriol can stop the spiritual awakening we are witnessing. Charlie’s memorial service on Sunday, September 21, drew over 100,000 people in person, and 100 million online from around the world.

From his memorial, Charlie Kirk’s legacy is evident. One hundred thousand men, women, and children worshipped with Kari Job, Brandon Lake, and Chris Tomlin. One hundred million people heard the Gospel preached by Charlie’s Pastor, Rob McCoy, and his mentor, Frank Turek. Secretary of State Marco Rubio delivered the entire Gospel narrative in ninety seconds, and the Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, proclaimed the name of Jesus Christ. So did Vice President Vance and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.

Christian podcaster Allie Beth Stuckey summarized the Gospel truths spoken during Charlie Kirk’s nearly six-hour memorial:

The highlight of the memorial was Erika Kirk’s eulogy of her husband. With tears and looking to Heaven, she cited Luke 23:34, “Forgive them, Father, for they know not what they do.” She then publicly forgave her husband’s killer. Her radical forgiveness was a testament to the power of the Gospel—Erika knows that forgiveness is not a passive, worldly excuse for wrongdoing. It is placing evil where it belongs: in the wrathful hands of a loving God who says vengeance is His.

Whether Charlie Kirk’s killer lives or dies, his sin will be given its due recompense by a perfectly just and wrathful God. If he dies an unbeliever Christ, his sin will be punished with him. And if he gives his life to Christ, Jesus drank his cup of wrath on the cross and left his sin in the grave. I would rejoice to see Charlie’s killer in heaven, and so would Erika Kirk. That’s the power of the Gospel. And that’s what 100 million people witnessed as she spoke.

Charlie wanted to be remembered for his faith. He has far surpassed his goal. Many churches are full. Many are reading the Bible for the first time in decades. Communities are gathering to worship and pray. And America’s highest-ranking leaders from Congress to the White House are proclaiming the Gospel without shame. Charlie Kirk’s legacy is revival.

Please join Concerned Women for America in prayer for every single person who has heard the Gospel in the wake of September 10, 2025. Pray that the Holy Spirit would convict, regenerate, steward, and sustain mustard seeds of faith, that pastors would shepherd new believers, and that the Gospel message would continue to revive our nation in every venue where Charlie Kirk is remembered.
