Friends, I told you yesterday about the Independent Payment Advisory Board, or IPAB. This is a group made up of 15 bureaucrats that will get to make decisions about the care needed by some of the sickest and highest-risk patients in our families.
As then-President Obama envisioned it, it would even expand to the private market and lead us ultimately to socialized medicine.
The recent case of Charlie Gard in the UK, shows us the disaster that such a development would be. Health care choices should be made by individuals in consultation with their doctors and their families, not imposed by government.
We must make our voices heard against a system that takes such a crude approach to the value of life.
