Praise the Lord for the huge news we have for parents and families in California. A federal judge has struck down harmful “gender secrecy” policies in public schools that allowed schools to conceal a student’s gender identity or social transition from parents. This decision comes from the class-action case Mirabelli v. Olson and applies to public school districts across our state.
For years, Concerned Women for America (CWA) of California has stood with parents who have raised the alarm that these secrecy policies erode trust, sideline families, and place the state in a role God never intended. Today’s ruling affirms what parents have long known and for what they have prayed: transparency matters, and parents are not obstacles to their children’s well-being.
U.S. District Judge Roger Benitez issued a ruling and permanent injunction declaring that policies preventing teachers and school staff from informing parents about their child’s gender identity are unconstitutional and may no longer be enforced.
The court affirmed that parents have a fundamental constitutional right to know what is happening with their children’s education, health, and well-being, and that educators cannot be compelled to mislead parents or withhold critical information. This restores honesty between schools and families and reasserts that parents, not the government, are the primary guides for their children.
As a result of this ruling, schools may no longer enforce policies that hide a student’s gender identity from parents, parents and guardians are legally protected in receiving this information, and teachers may communicate truthfully with families without fear of retaliation. This is a monumental victory for parental rights, family integrity, and constitutional liberty, and a reminder that prayer and faithful action truly make a difference.
Scripture reminds us, “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me” (Psalm 28:7). We give all glory to God for this breakthrough and for every parent, advocate, and prayer warrior who stood firm for truth and righteousness.
Prayer of thanks: Father God, we thank You for hearing our prayers and for this clear affirmation of parental rights in California. Thank You for protecting families, upholding truth, and strengthening parents who have felt silenced or sidelined. Give us wisdom, courage, and humility as we continue to stand for righteousness and for the good of every child. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Please share this update with your friends, family, church, and community so others may be encouraged by how God moves when His people pray and act.
