A New Era of Public Policy in 2025

As the year comes to a close, so does the 118th Congress and the 46th Presidency. There will be a new year, a new Congress, and a new President in January. This fresh start carries a renewed opportunity to promote Biblical principles and defend the dignity of women in public policy. Here is how we hope to see the fresh trifecta move as they fill the halls of D.C in 2025.

President-elect Donald Trump signed the Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee’s (CWALAC) Presidential Promise to American Women during his campaign for reelection. He promised to affirm “sex-based distinction that protect women in every area, such as shelters, prisons, housing, healthcare, defense, education, and sports.”

The implementation of these promises could shift the direction of American public policy for years to come. Rather than barreling backwards voting on regressive bills like the Equality Act, Congress can finally take positive action bolstered by President Trump’s decisive victory. The House of Representatives passed the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act in the 118th Congress, but the Senate never brought it to the floor. And even if the Act passed both chambers, President Biden promised to follow it with a veto. Congress should swiftly work to place similar legislation on President Trump’s desk within the first few weeks of the legislative session.

We also expect President Trump to repeal a host of Biden-era executive orders that disregard the wellbeing of American women. These include attacks on conscience protections, upheaval of abortion pill regulations, harmful expansions of the Affordable Care Act, and more. President Biden also issued a chokehold over all agencies within his first day in office, forcing blind and unrivaled compliance in line with radical gender ideologies. President Trump should repeal these narrow orders and allow agencies to enforce the law with a firm grasp on reality and fairness.

Merely days after the Supreme Court released the Dobbs v. Jackson opinion allowing for unborn protection in state and federal law, the Biden Administration created ReproductiveRights.gov. The federally operated website connects women with abortion related resources, including funds for abortion and abortion travel. The Biden Administration did not create any similar resources for women wanting to carry their child to term, seek adoption services, reverse an abortion pill, or any other life-affirming care. A unified government can work to ensure that a woman, no matter where she lives, is well informed of all her options. Two bills in the 118th Congress would establish a zip-code based website to connect women with pre-existing life-affirming resources in her area; Life.Gov (H.R. 5406) and the MOMS Act (H.R. 8801).

Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy are set to lead President Trump’s new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). In their joint opinion published in the Wall Street Journal, they recognize several opportunities to reduce government spending, including mentioning Planned Parenthood by name. The abortion industry leader receives over $500M in government checks every year but has relentlessly waged war on the dignity of women and human life. Congress can restrict this unnecessary and politicized funding in their 2025 Appropriations plan.

The Fiscal Year 2025 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) already took notable steps to renew legitimacy to the federal grounds forfeited to anti-woman agendas. The military spending bill rolled back DEI programs and even included provisions to ban sex-change surgeries on minors. The NDAA’s passage set the table for a host of protective reform, and we expect Congress to expand these efforts under President Trump’s leadership.

Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee continues to work here in the nation’s capital to ensure American women are heard in Congress and the White House. Hopeful because of the promises already made, we eagerly anticipate a new era of public policy that recognizes and defends the dignity of women. Join us in praying for our leaders and for righteous action grounded in Christian conviction.
