A Message from a CWA of Tennessee Chapter Leader – NOT Giving Up

I have always loved the quote used by President, Ronald Reagan, “If not now, when? If not by us, then by whom?” As I’ve observed the events of the last several months around the world and our county, I asked myself, am I going to give up or press in, within my role as a CWA Prayer/Action Chapter Leader?

In Hebrews the answer is clear, “And let us consider how we spur one another on toward love and good deeds, NOT giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:24-25 NIV).

As CWA leaders and members, we do not shrink back, especially during these times. We receive encouragement by being with one another in person, teleconferencing, or on a conference call. It strengthens our faith and disperses fear, especially during these times. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV)

Though a registered nurse and personally affected by this virus, I believe it’s time to “Open America.” As CWA’s CEO and president has said, “Americans have shown they are resilient and responsible. But as this pandemic comes to an end, they must be allowed to exercise their constitutional rights and return to daily life.”

Therefore, for these reasons, after teleconference meeting for several months, we will be meeting once again face to face on June 16. We have enjoyed our time teleconferencing as we did a study by Priscilla Shirer called “The Armor of God.” We have a renewed commitment to prayer and have been continually encourages by our regular meetings, as the verse in Hebrews stated.

We started this chapter just before the shutdown. The decision to continue to meet has brought a closeness for each of us and has allowed us to engage with new women as our number has grown.
