WASHINGTON, DC – Concerned Women for America (CWA) is urging parents to submit an FCC comment by May 22 about why TV programs should alert parents to LGBTQ+ content in shows, especially those targeted to children.

“One of the biggest issues I hear about from mothers is that they cannot let their children safely watch TV because they will inevitably be exposed to sexualized content – even in TV shows rated as appropriate for children. Our research found that Netflix’s children’s programming includes LGBTQ themes and content, but parents would be unaware of this because TV programs are not required to disclose this information in advance. We urge parents to raise their concerns to the FCC by May 22 so that LGBTQ content will be labeled, and parents can make their own viewing decisions for their families,” said Penny Nance, CEO and President, Concerned Women for America, and a former FCC special advisor.

CWA’s December 2025 analysis of Netflix programming rated appropriate for children revealed that 41% of G-rated series and 41% of TV-Y7-rated series contain LGBTQ+ content, showing that Netflix is an “active driver” of the LGBTQ+ agenda.

“In their FCC comments, families should also insist that the TV Parental Guidelines Oversight Monitoring Board, which has oversight over the TV content ratings system, be disbanded and reconstituted to include more parent groups, child‑advocacy organizations, and independent experts, and fewer industry-aligned stakeholders. Currently, this board is comprised of the same studios and networks that create and rate the TV content, so that there is no independent review or oversight. This needs to change,” said Nance.

“If parents are to trust the TV content ratings system, TV programs must disclose that LGBTQ+ themes are in them. The TV content ratings system must be accurate, transparent, and have more oversight by parents,” she said.
