“But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you,
and guard you from the evil one.”
– 2 Thessalonians 3:3
Protecting places of worship has become a pressing national issue over the past several months. Sen. Rick Edmonds (R-District 6) has introduced SB306, a bill that strengthens legal protections for churches in Louisiana.
Free speech does not give anyone a free pass to enter a place of worship and trespass, intimidate, or harass the congregation. SB306 reinforces existing legal standards while clearly defining what constitutes obstruction of the freedom of worship.
This includes actions such as:
- The use of force or the threat of force
- Physical obstruction
- Attempted intentional injury
Good news: SB306 passed in the Senate on March 23 by a vote of 27-8 and is now headed to the House Administration Criminal Justice Committee.

Gracious God, we ask for Your divine protection over every place where people gather to worship You. Protect them from violence, fear, and division. Let every person who walks through their doors feel secure. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
