WASHINGTON, DC – Concerned Women for America (CWA) called on Loudoun County School Board to reconsider its stance enabling students to use bathrooms according to their gender identity – in violation of the U.S. Department of Education’s policy.
Loudoun County School Board voted 6-3 Tuesday evening to keep its current policy. Other Northern Virginia school districts – Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, and Prince William – are also in violation of the Department of Education’s policy but have not yet made decisions about compliance.
“Loudoun County Schools’ defiance of the Department of Education’s policy will lead to further erosion of students’ rights. The district is effectively saying that the rights of trans-identifying students are paramount. We believe this move violates Title IX, and we call on Loudoun County Schools to change this discriminatory policy immediately,” said Penny Nance, CEO and President, Concerned Women for America.
“Additionally, we urge Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, and Prince William schools to comply with the Department of Education policy. It is imperative that students have gender-specific bathrooms without the threat of a member of the opposite sex gaining access. While Loudoun County Schools has an abysmal track record with students’ safety, the district must face consequences for this latest decision,” said Nance.
