Washington, D.C. – Concerned Women for America (CWA), the nation’s largest public policy women’s organization, made the following statement regarding the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi: 

“Raisi was a mass murdering thug who had the blood of thousands of innocent Iranians and Israelis on his hands,” said Penny Nance, CEO and President of CWA. “His death is a hopeful sign that things can change in Iran and President Joe Biden needs to do everything he can to help the Iranian people who have suffered under the ‘Butcher of Tehran’ for too long.”

In 1988, Raisi facilitated the slaughter of thousands of political dissidents for disloyalty to the Islamic Republic. The victims included women and children as young as 13. He has also led the country to obtain enriched uranium and nuclear weapons intended for use against his enemies, Israel and the United States. Iran has backed the Hamas terrorists whose barbaric attacks on Israel are pure evil.

“Under his leadership, Iran has tried to destroy Israel and to exterminate the Jewish people,” said Nance. “Scripture tells us that God will bless those who bless His people, and curse him that curses them.”
