“For Zion’s sake, I will not keep silent, for Jerusalem’s sake I will not remain quiet, till her vindication shines out like the dawn, her salvation like a blazing torch.” Isaiah 62:1 

Young Women for America (YWA) leaders all across the country have jumped into action upon hearing the news of the evil attacks against Israel that started last weekend. Our leaders have shared prayer points, resources, and support on social media. YWA hosted a prayer call for Israel on Tuesday afternoon, where multiple leaders prayed. Our YWA Rutherford County (Tennessee), YWA Inland Empire (California), YWA Anderson University, YWA Clemson University, and YWA Patrick Henry College all met this week to pray for Israel and study our Support for Israel booklet.

Many of our YWA leaders have had the opportunity to visit Israel in the last few years, and it is clear how that experience has deepened their love and care for Israel. YWA Ambassador Johanna Torres (Oklahoma State University), who joined us in prayer on our call, said:  

“At the beginning of this year, I had the opportunity of a lifetime. I got to go visit the Holy Land. I loved every moment of my time in Israel; it changed me forever and strengthened my relationship with the Lord. Growing up, my parents always taught me the importance of praying for Israel, and after visiting, I left with a greater understanding of how God has called us as Christians to pray for Israel and His people.

“The strategic, terrorist-executed war Israel is currently facing has been heavy on my heart. Israel is experiencing the largest toll of civilian casualties in the 75 years of their existence. As we watch and listen from afar, history unfolding in the present day, we must have our responsibility as believers at the forefront of our minds.

“Now more than ever, the Church and followers of Christ worldwide need to unite and pray for Israel, for peace, for the salvation of millions of souls during this difficult time, and for wisdom for our leaders and ambassadors of Christ alike. As Christians, we have a responsibility to not stay silent, to continue to be a voice for the voiceless, and most importantly, to PRAY for our brothers and sisters who need us now more than ever.”

In a time where we are seeing vile anti-Israel protests on college campuses, our YWA leaders are standing in the gap for Israel. Multiple YWA leaders have reached out to YWA staff for assistance and prayer for conversations they’re having with classmates who don’t support Israel. It is an honor and privilege to help equip our leaders as they are on the frontlines of this discourse.
